Boots & Brews featured at Indiana Grand Racing & Casino


SHELBYVILLE, Ind. (Aug. 21, 2019) – Boots & Brews, the annual event featuring a country western theme, is set for Saturday, Aug. 24 at Indiana Grand. Sponsored by the Indiana Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association (HBPA), the evening will include a “Grand Experience” offering along with live entertainment, a mechanical bull, and kids’ activities. First post is 6:15 p.m.


The Indiana HBPA will provide a special evening edition of the popular morning program “Grand Experience.” The monthly event is provided to introduce new fans to racing and offer a unique look at Thoroughbred racing. With a move to the evening, “Grand Experience” will provide those in attendance with food along with the live racing program. The event begins at 6 p.m. in the newly renovated Derby Suite, located on the north end of the first floor of the Grandstand next to

Family Pavilion. The event is provided on a first come, first serve basis and those in attendance who are 18 years of age and older may register to win a few prizes, including a $100 win wager on the fourth race of the night. Additional handicapping tips and free programs will also be available during “Grand Experience.”


The event is in conjunction with “Boots ‘N Brews” which features additional activities for racing fans of all ages. Free face painting and a mechanical bull will be available trackside beginning at 6 p.m. followed by the band Outlaw Country, which will perform from 6 until 10 p.m.



To complement the activities, Rustic Cactus will have a store on site featuring items from their Route 9 location in Shelbyville, Ind. Apparel, home décor, boots, saddles and other western style gear will be available for purchase just outside the Always Turned On Tent beginning at 6 p.m. Corona Premier will be featured at the racing beverage outlets.


The racing program will conclude with the $173,370 Quarter Horse Racing Association of Indiana (QHRAI) Stallion Service Auction (SSA) Futurity as Race 9 and $75,506 QHRAI SSA Derby as Race 10. The QHRAI will also offer a new Stallion Challenge with $5,000 going to the stallion owner of the Futurity winner.


Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse racing continues through Wednesday, Nov. 6. Racing is conducted Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday at 2:15 p.m. and Saturday at 6:15 p.m. More information about the season is available at www.indianagrand.com.
