SHELBYVILLE, Ind. (Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2022) – Dashtraxx and Rolando Pina bested a total of 32 starters in four trials to pave the way to the $100,000 final of the Leader of the Class Sale Futurity Final set for Wednesday, Sept. 14. The stakes race, formerly known as the Speed Sale Futurity, will be held just days before the QHRAI Speed Sale, which will offer 80 entrants this year. The sale is set for Saturday, Sept. 17 at Horseshoe Indianapolis.

Dashtraxx rallied home in the first of four trials for his win in a time of :17.689 seconds. It was his first career win in three outs. The Valiant Hero gelding is owned by Steve Mullins and is trained by Tim Eggleston. He led throughout to win convincingly by one length over Royal Sin and Juan Marquez. Our Louisiana Girl and German Rodriguez finished third.

The second quickest trial was turned in by Piloted by an Angel, who remains perfect in four career starts. The Paint My Pilot filly, bred by Dunn Ranch, won her trial easily in :17.777 seconds, nearly three lengths ahead of second place finisher My Royal Jess and German Rodriguez. Wheres Wilson and Giovani Vazquez Gomez finished third.

Piloted by an Angel is owned by Debbie Smith and Sam Cruz’s SJC, Inc. She is already a stakes winner for trainer Randy Smith, getting the title in the $127,000 Jaguar Rocket Futurity in late July.

The Dirty Wagon and Blacktrain B, both trained by Smith, were also trial winners. Both horses were ridden to victory by German Rodriguez in times of :17.948 and :18.197, respectively.
