SHELBYVILLE, Ind. (March 18, 2021) – Plans for Music in the Park, hosted by Shelby Parks and Recreation and Shelby County Tourism, are set for 2021. Indiana Grand will once again be a sponsor for the summer concert series with a $5,000 donation to the program held at Blue River Memorial Park.

“Music in the Park has become a staple on the entertainment schedule for Shelbyville and Shelby County and we are glad to step up once again as a sponsor in 2021,” said Mike Rich, Senior Vice President and General Manager. “Coming off a year where a lot of entertainment activities were cancelled, it’s important to get these events back on track for local residents. We feel everyone is ready to enjoy an evening out, and Music in the Park provides a great venue for a family outing.”

The Music in the Park concert series kicks off Saturday, June 12 with Gordon Bonham and Rob Dixon featuring blues and jazz music. Heart & Soul, a Huey Lewis Tribute Band, will take the stage Saturday, Aug. 7 followed by Henry Lee Summer set for Saturday, Sept. 11. All concerts are free and will be held from 7 – 9 p.m. Concert goers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets. State regulations for safety protocols will be in place. Food and beverages, including beer and wine, will be available during the concerts.

“Music in the Park is a special event to bring diversity and culture to Shelby County,” said Karen Martin, Executive Director of Shelby Parks and Recreation. “We offer different genres of music, and it’s a great way for families to get together outdoors. We haven’t had that gathering option recently. We appreciate Indiana Grand and our other sponsors for their support. We couldn’t do it without them, and it definitely wouldn’t be free.”

In addition to three music concerts, “Shakespeare in the Park” is set for Saturday, July 24. The live play will feature performers from the Brown Box Theater’s Professional Theater Group. “Much Ado About Nothing” will take center stage at 7 p.m. and is also free to the public.
