SHELBYVILLE, Ind. (Oct. 3, 2019) – Once again in 2019, Indiana Grand has dedicated the entire month to Breast Cancer Awareness and the racing program will feature Pink Out Night Saturday, Oct. 12 to complement the efforts. A special Survivor’s Walk will be held beginning at 5 p.m. followed by racing, which gets underway at 6:15 p.m.
The annual Survivor’s Walk is a way to celebrate those afflicted by cancer, including friends and family members. The informal walk gets underway with a few comments from representatives of Indiana Women in Need (I.W.I.N.), an organization that provides support for those going through cancer and offers assistance for their families. Walkers will then take a trip through the barn area at Indiana Grand for an approximate three-quarter mile walk and return to the grandstand area to prepare for the evening’s festivities.
When racing gets underway at 6:15 p.m., free face painting will be offered for younger racing fans. A strolling Marilyn Monroe look-alike will also be available for photos free of charge. A special pink beverage, Pink Strawberry Lemonade made with Cruzan strawberry rum, lemonade and grenadine will be offered for $6.00 and Peppermints for Ponies will take place after select races. Fans will have the opportunity to purchase peppermints for $1 to feed to the pony horses with all proceeds going to I.W.I.N. Special ladies’ giveaways will also be included during the night.
The evening will also include a special race, the Survivor’s Classic, which will be held early in the racing program with all cancer survivors invited to come to the winner’s circle for a photo with the winning horse.
In addition to the activities on the racing side, the casino is offering Give $10, Get $10 through the cashier’s cage. Individuals may donate $10 to cancer care and in turn, will receive $10 in free play in the form of Reel Rewards. One hundred percent of the donations will go to charity.
